Through movement, music, light, trickery, and the manipulation of nifty objects, safe/guard tells the story of a spider surviving a cataclysm at the tender hands and ark of creator Rob Leveroos. He first started work on the piece a year before in Minesotta and saw it through to a more final form in Vancouver, with choreographer Noam Gagnon, lighting designer Kyla Gardner, and I got to provide the score. We performed it at the excellent Gam Gallery, with musical sets from The End Tree and Joanna Chapman-Smith. The safe/guard is created almost exclusively of the objects that appear on stage.
